How much should I spend?
Some old etiquette books told men to spend no less than 6 months salary on an engagement ring. More recently, we commonly hear 2 to 3 months salary. The reality is, there is no rule. A purchase like this should never be based on some ancient advice. No one should tell you how much to spend.
This is the reason we have always maintained to our customers that it's not important how much you spend. The ring, and everything it symbolizes, is of significance here. The reality is that many smaller engagement rings are often more appealing than some of the larger, poorer quality diamond rings found in the market today. So choose a diamond that you can afford and give her the ring that shows your love and commitment.
