F.A.Q.
Jewellery Care and Cleaning
Question: How come I can't seem to clean my jewellery the same way jewellery stores can?
Answer: Here's a secret. Take a mixture of half Mister Clean to half water and keep it handy in a small jar. Put your gold and gemstone jewellery in it for a few minutes, rinse and there you go... freshly cleaned jewellery. Just don't put your emeralds, opals or pearls into the solution as they can be damaged. Of course nothing beats the ultra sonic machine found in most reputable jewellery stores, where the dirt is actually vibrated out of the jewellery. When you're in the store we can clean your jewellery for free. As well, we often professionally buff and steam clean jewellery, making it look like it did the day you bought it. It's only a $30 surcharge, but it works like magic.
Question: How often is it safe to clean your gold and diamond rings?
Answer: The answer to this is broken into two parts. As far as using the day to day jewellery cleaners found in most jewellery stores, including the ultra sonic machines, which shake the dirt off the jewellery, there is no limit. Do it daily if you wish with no concerns. It's the professional buffing of the jewellery that I would lay caution to, as this tends to either remove some of the metal or wear down areas around the diamonds themselves. I would not exceed once every couple of years for this process.
